WASHINGTON — Congressional Republicans are promising to grill President Obama on his jobs plan during his Twitter Town Hall this afternoon.
The White House has encouraged Twitter users to ask questions for Obama using the #AskObama hashtag. Questions will be posed to Obama by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey during an event in the East Room of the White House Wednesday afternoon.
Tweeting Republicans, using their #4jobs hashtag to signify job creation, have promised to add their questions to those pouring into the White House.
The Twitter account for the House Education and the Workforce Committee, which Minnesota Rep. John Kline chairs, tweeted this morning: “Today Obama is hosting a Twitter Townhall. We’ll be asking what he is doing #4jobs. Follow our questions and responses here. #askobama” Minnesota Republican Erik Paulsen tweeted, “Ask President Obama questions during his @townhall today. Use #AskObama. A chance for him to hear directly from the 3rd District of #MN.” The account for House Speaker John Boehner came out swinging, asking: “With 9.1% unemployment & “shovel ready” jobs a bust, will you admit the 'stimulus' was a mistake?”
The House GOP Conference has a list of Republicans on Twitter, and you can follow their questions and comments here.
The town hall meeting starts at 1 p.m. It will be streaming live here, and the White House will tweet 140-character summaries of Obama’s answers.
