Republican U.S. Senate candidate Pete Hegseth raised $160,000 during the month of March, his campaign announced Monday. He has $130,000 in the bank.
Hegseth is one of three Republicans seeking the party’s nomination in the race to unseat Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar. He joined the race on March 1 and had a $100,000 fundraising goal for the month, his campaign manager said in a statement.
Other Republicans in the race include state Rep. Kurt Bills and former state Rep. Dan Severson. Bills entered the race in March and has yet to file a fundraising report (they’re due to the Federal Election Commission next week); Severson raised $85,500 during the last nine months of 2011 and had $34,000 on hand at the end of the year.
Klobuchar has a significant fundraising edge over the pack of Republicans running against her — she raised more than $4.1 million last year and had $4.6 million on hand on Dec. 31.
