Pelosi on Peterson: Speaker 'appreciates his direct feedback'

By Derek Wallbank | Published Fri, Sep 3 2010 6:17 am

WASHINGTON — Following on our story Wednesday about Collin Peterson's habit of speaking his mind in ways that other Dems seem to get in trouble for but that seem to endear him to his district...

We had tried to get Pelosi's folks to comment for the article to no avail. However, a source close to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office e-mailed after it went live to confirm our thesis.

Indeed House Democratic leaders have noticed Peterson's habit of frankness where others might equivocate (including telling an audience in Bloomington last week that Dems might lose the House) — but don't seem to mind.

"The speaker is a fan of Mr. Peterson," the source said. "He speaks his mind and she appreciates the direct feedback."
