I talked the other day to Wy Spano, venerable DFL political analyst, lobbyist and nice guy. (Spano, by the way, counts himself a friend and admirer of former Attorney General Mike Hatch and recited chapter and verse on some of Mr. Hatch's admirable qualities that may have been underemphasized in some of my own recent work.)

Anyway, our chat didn't produce anything much bloggable except this: Spano said that in analyzing the dynamics of elections, he frequently returns for insight and inspiration to a cartoon he saw decades ago. I'm paraphrasing (because I wasn't taking notes when Spano described the cartoon, and he may have paraphrasing, too, since who knows how long it's been since he saw the thing but anyway):  In the cartoon, two women are heading into their polling place and one asks the other: "So, which one are you voting against?"
