When I wrote yesterday about the Franken-Coleman dispute over how much Coleman must pay Franken, I was unaware of a letter from the court clerk making a tentative determination. That letter, attached (pdf), endorses some of Franken's claimed costs, rejects others.
Franken spokester Jess McIntosh says that based on the clerk's ruling, Coleman owes Franken $94,783.
Coleman has 10 working days from the date of the letter (May 15) to accept the figure or request a court hearing. (I make the deadline for a decision to be June 1, same as the date of Supreme Court oral arguments).
Coleman's position, emailed by Campaign Manager Cullen Sheehan: "It is our intent to pay what we owe when the court process is complete." Sheehan clarifies that "what we owe" is what the court clerk determined. And that "when the court process is complete" refers to a final ruling by the MN Supremes.
