Rep. Michele Bachmann believes that both she and Sarah Palin have been targeted for "sabotage" by Democrats because the Dems want to make sure that the first woman president will be a Democrat. In the same breath, she said that Obama is putting America on a path that will lead to the destruction of our country.
She said it Thursday on the Mike Gallagher radio program. Gallagher asked her about how the left targets her and whether that's because they realize she's an effective voice for change.
She replied that yes, she ranks at the top of incumbent House members that Speaker Nancy Pelosi has targeted for defeat in 2010. Gallagher followed out by asserting that several of the people that the left goes after are conservative women. Bachmann replied:
"Also with women politicians, they want to make sure no women, no woman becomes president before a Democrat woman, and so they're doing everything they can to, I think, sabotage women like Sarah Palin, perhaps women like myself, or similarly situated women, to make sure that we don't have a prominent national voice.
But the thing is, the people in our country, they don't care who the voice is, they just want someone, they want to know that someone is speaking out for them against what will certainly bring about the destruction of our great country if we continue to go down the Obama path."
Media Matter, which monitors conservative talk, picked up the quote. You can read it there and listen to audio of the exchange in a bit more context if you are so inclined.
