Oh please!!

Please remind your readers of the campaign promises of Amy K. She promised to lower the deficit, lower the national debt, follow pay-go, and get us out or Iraq. So far, she has "failed miserably."

It would be easy to assign too much significance to this. Klobuchar is exactly the kind of politician who gets pulverized by skeptical Iowans in living room meet and greets where cute jokes MUST be followed up with by serious remarks that clearly demonstrate a deep understanding of the issues. Klobuchar's rep as a jokester or her love of folksy stories would not play well with Hawkeye state caucusers.

Iowa's had a woman lieutenant governor and a woman attorney general. Their Congressional representation gender imbalance speaks more to their long Republican history than anything else. They came very close to having a woman governor in 1982, but the current "dean of the Iowa press corps," David Yepsen, almost singlehandedly killed Roxanne Conlin's campaign with a five-month, momentum-killing jihad in which he bludgeoned Conlin with her husband's tax filings over 80 times in his Des Moines Register columns and articles.

Well, she killed two birds with one stone.

Good for her: we pay enough for congressional junkets already.
