Baseball: Lefthanded pitcher Brian Duensing, now in Triple-A for the Minnesota Twins, wins bronze for Team USA. Solid performance: 7 innings, one run allowed, three hits.
Basketball: Lynx guard Seimone Augustus wins gold for Team USA. Had a good tournament, playing 17 minutes per game, averaging eight points and playing good defense ... Team physican for men and women, Dr. Sheldon Burns deftly handed towels and drinks to players, won two gold medals.
Beach volleyball: Former Gopher Nicole Branagh's team didn't get to the medal round.
Equestrian: Becky Holder of Mendota Heights finished 42nd in eventing.
Rowing: Matt Schnobrich and Micah Boyd, both of St. Paul, rowed on the men's eight for the U.S. and won a bronze.
Swimming: Jillian Tyler, a University of Minnesota swimmer, for Canada, 100-meter breaststroke, got to semifinals, but didn't advance.
Track: Triple-jumper Shani Marks, the former Gopher, didn't advance out of the first round ... runner Kara Goucher, Duluth, 10th in 10,000-meters, ninth in 5,000-meters ... Former Gopher (for one season) Barbara Spotakova, of Czech Republic, wins gold in javelin
Minneapolis' Roman Cress ran for the Marshall Islands in the 100-meters, but didn't advance out of the first round.
Volleyball: Lindsey Berg, another former Gopher, took silver for Team USA.
Wrestling: Ali Bernard, of New Ulm, lost bronze-medal match.
Jake Deitchler, of Ramsey, lost his two matches. He's now decided to skip going to the U of M to devote himself to international wrestling. — Jay Weiner
