It’s always risky when you set a fundraising goal publicly, because you might miss it and look like a loser even though you raised a lot.

Or, you might hit it four days before your deadline, which could discourage last-minute donors from stepping up.

Heartfelt thanks to everyone who has donated so far to our end-of-year campaign. Starting on “Give to the Max” Day, you’ve helped us raise $30,000, hitting the goal we set for Dec. 22.

We are very grateful for this show of support. But if you haven’t made an end-of-year donation yet, and you believe in the kind of high-quality journalism we’re providing, we still need your help.

2009 has been a challenging year for all media and all nonprofits, and every extra dollar we raise this month helps us sustain the level of reporting, analysis and editing you’ve come to expect from MinnPost.

Thanks for doing your part.
