We made it to almost 2,400 donors without a full-time position devoted exclusively to membership, but now MinnPost has hired its first Membership Director.

Stephanie Johnson joined our team Monday. She most recently served as a major gifts officer for Fairview Foundation and previously raised funds for the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota, Mounds Park Academy and The Blake School. Stephanie lives in Minneapolis with her husband, Wayne, and her four stepsons.

Stephanie will be responsible for strengthening relationships with current MinnPost members, cultivating new members, and increasing membership revenue to help support MinnPost’s high-quality online journalism for people who care about Minnesota. She will also play a role in our continuing efforts to secure foundation support, both locally and nationally.

She will report to Laurie Kramer, chief revenue officer, who has been leading membership, among other responsibilities.

“We’re excited about adding Stephanie to our staff,” Laurie says. “We’re transitioning from a mom-and-pop membership operation to one that can better serve our fast-growing base of supporters.”

“I have always been a news junkie and have admired and appreciated MinnPost’s thoughtful reporting of the news since its founding,” Stephanie says. “I am honored to have the opportunity to work with such a talented and committed staff and to extending our outreach to even larger audiences.”

Stephanie invites comments from members and will be reaching out to you in the weeks and months to come. You can reach Stephanie at sjohnson (at) minnpost (dot) com or 612-455-6954. She also will handle all emails sent to members (at) minnpost (dot) com.
