The 2015-16 season of MinnPost Social, sponsored by RBC Wealth Management, will start with a bang on Tuesday, Aug. 4, when MinnPost journalists Peter Callaghan, Marlys Harris and Bill Lindeke lead a public discussion on the sustainability of the downtown development booms underway in Minneapolis and St. Paul.

The event will take place 5:30-7 p.m. at the Day Block Brewing Co. tap room, 1105 Washington Ave., in Minneapolis.

  1. Timing?

Hosting this event on National Night Out, when many of the engaged and knowledgeable residents of the city who would be interested in attending are occupied by local events on their blocks and in their neighborhoods, doesn’t seem to make much sense.

I regret that I will be one of them.

    1. Good point

You make a good point, Sean.

We do our best to avoid potential conflicts when scheduling our events, but in this case we simply overlooked National Night Out (which I agree is a great celebration for civically minded folk).

Had we spotted the conflict sooner we very well might have opted for another night, but our plans have been finalized so we’ll be sticking with Aug. 4.

The good news is that there will be plenty more MinnPost Social events, some of which will again focus on urban development. I hope to see you at a future event.
