    Recognizing MinnPost's major sponsors

By Joel Kramer | Published Thu, Jan 7 2010 9:03 am

To cover the more than $1 million a year it costs us to run MinnPost, we need numerous revenue sources. One of the most important ones for our long-term success is sponsorships. That’s why we are now recognizing our major sponsors by running their logos on the left-hand side of almost all MinnPost.com pages.

We currently have three major sponsors. UCare sponsors our health blog, Second Opinion. United Way of the Greater Twin Cities sponsors Community Voices. And The Minneapolis Foundation, which sponsored Daily Glean in 2009, now sponsors a new feature, Community Sketchbook.

Major sponsorships, which start at $20,000 a year, provide an enterprise with several kinds of exposure to our readers, beyond the logo on the left-hand side of every page. Each sponsorship is different, tailored to the needs of both the sponsor and MinnPost.

MinnPost has a passionate and growing audience. Major sponsors get the chance not only to keep that audience informed about the sponsor’s mission and activities, but also to remind the audience that they are helping MinnPost serve the community with high-quality journalism.

Interested in getting your organization’s name and logo on every MinnPost.com page as a major sponsor? Write to our advertising and sponsorship director, Sally Waterman, swaterman (at) minnpost (dot) com, to set up an appointment to start the discussion. If you are interested in sponsorship but have a smaller budget, Sally can also talk to you about secondary content sponsorships.

And MinnPost readers: If you work for or interact with any of our major sponsors (or any of our advertisers, for that matter), thank them for supporting MinnPost.

Inside MinnPost will be the place for MinnPost staff to talk about what's going on in our enterprise. We hope to engage in a conversation with our readers, with current and prospective members and advertisers, and others interested in our grand experiment in high-quality, not-for-profit local journalism. The blog will be coordinated by Joel Kramer, MinnPost's CEO and Editor, with frequent contributions from other staff members.
