A sneak peak at MinnRoast silent auction

By Laurie Kramer | Published Thu, Mar 18 2010 7:11 am

Inquiring minds are asking what we’ve got for the MinnRoast silent auction this year.

The general answer: buy your ticket, come to the event, and find out. And, of course, prepare to bid generously.

We have wonderful journalism-related stuff that you won’t find at other auctions. Plus great dinners at restaurants and homes, cooking classes, tours and special events you can sign up for at a fixed per-person price. Something for everyone.

But there’s one extra-special item we do want to talk about in advance -- because it involves summer vacation and perhaps making plans with others.

It’s a week at a totally renovated petite chateau, in a romantic wine village in the Loire Valley of France. With 4 bedrooms and 5 baths, it can comfortably accommodate up to four couples.

It’s available for one week (Saturday to Saturday) in June, July or August 2010, depending on availability. As of now, the week of June 26-July 3 is not available. The minimum bid is $1,500. A $100 cleaning fee is due in advance.

We have photos and lots more details, which we’ll happily share with anyone interested. Email lkramer [at] minnpost [dot] com.

A great opportunity to bid -- and a great cause to support?

    Mais oui.
