The MinnPostmobile made a few stops in Duluth on Labor Day, sharing signs, buttons and bags bearing our slogan, “I listen to MPR^®, but I read MinnPost.com.”

At the annual Labor Day picnic at Bayfront Park, long-time Duluth labor activist and political organizer Erik Peterson, who works for Wellstone Action, was surprised to see the MinnPostmobile in Duluth, but happy to take a button.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who joined other DFL officeholders and candidates on stage at the event, was heard later telling a constituent that her dad now writes for MinnPost -- and then she posed in front of the MinnPostmobile before heading off to her next engagement.

Later in the day, the mobile HQ distributed signs, buttons and bags to a half dozen MinnPost members willing to help spread the word, including a retired Star Tribune journalist, a professor at University of Minnesota-Duluth, and a former freelance journalist-turned-midwife, who says she’s now trained in “two obsolete professions.” For dinner, we went to At Sara’s Table Chester Creek Café, owned and operated by two MinnPost supporters. The owners took some extra MinnPost paraphernalia, so if you’re in Duluth and want some, ask Carla or Barb At Sara’s Table.
