In the video of the July 31 panel, now available for download, University of Minnesota College of Design Dean Tom Fisher calls for a new profession of "public designers," Minneapolis architect John Dwyer explains why New Orleans is worth saving, and San Francisco product designer Emily Pilloton shows how a rolling water drum has transformed one village's life. (Hint: It's so easy and fun that boys and men will roll it, freeing women and girls for other tasks.)

"We all know the problems (of world poverty and deprivation)," organizer Troy Gallas said of the idea behind the panel. "It's now time to focus on the solutions."
