Each year on the frozen waters of Medicine Lake in Plymouth a small community of odd looking icehouses draws a crowd. They are not always there for fishing but rather to showcase new ideas of what art can be. The 2008 edition of the artist-designed shanty projects featured a karaoke shack, a fish head and even a bicycle-powered ice shack on wheels for when that fishing spot gets slow.

The Art Shanty Projects on Medicine Lake run through Feb. 14.
