Fourth-grader on the short list for Minnesota Wild head-coach job
By Ken Ronnan | 05/27/09
Wild owner Craig Leipold was so impressed with a résumé submitted for the club's head coaching position that he decided to interview the author in person -- at his elementary school in St. Paul. The visit was a part of the "Wild Buddy" program at Horace Mann Elementary, which partners kids with a Wild mentor.
Dressed in suit and tie, Sullivan "Sully" Casey got the chance to interview for the open position as his classmates got to watch. To help seal the deal with Leipold, the fourth-grade class president said he would work for cheap since he lives at home with his parents. $3,000 a year could buy a lot of candy for a 10-year-old, but instead he's looking to save for college.
