The Late Show's David Letterman has his own explanation for why two Northwest Airlines pilots overshot their Minneapolis landing destination by 150 miles.
No. 8: "Mapquest always takes you the long way ..."

The two Northwest Airlines pilots who missed their Minneapolis destination by 150 miles have had their pilots licenses revoked by the Federal Aviation Administration. Delta Airlines said it has also suspended the two pilots. The pilots claim they were distracted while using a laptop and with their headsets off did not hear the calls from air traffic control.

With all those apples, it only makes sense for an apple orchard to bake fresh apple pies. The Pine Tree Apple Orchard, located in White Bear Lake, turns out close to 300 of these pies daily, using about 20 bushels of apples in the process.
Take a look behind the scenes at the equipment and the people who make this pie-making operation possible.

Larry Jacobs, director of the Center for the Study of Politics and Governance at the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute, University of Minnesota, discusses how a major political crisis in Minnesota is leading to an economic crisis in regard to the state's budget.
A down economy, evaporating stimulus money, differing political priorities and an upcoming gubernatorial election are only adding to the state's budget-balancing problems, Jacobs said. Unless the two parties are able to find common ground on taxing and spending, Jacobs sees the future of Minnesota as "not a bright one."

During a broadcast of last Saturday's University of Minnesota-Ohio State football game on ESPN, commentator Bob Griese made a regrettable comment about Colombian-born NASCAR driver Juan Pablo Montoya.
While promoting an upcoming NASCAR race, commentator Chris Spielman asked, "Where's Juan Pablo Montoya?"
"He's out having a taco," Bob Griese answered.
At the end of the game, Griese apologized, saying that "Juan Pablo Montoya, he's one of the best drivers in NASCAR." ESPN has also released a statement regarding the comment.

A fan video taken during a gopher football game has the University of Minnesota apologizing after its Goldy the Gopher mascot poked fun at Penn State football player Jerome Hayes.
Hayes kneels down to pray in the end zone before the game Oct 17. Goldy Gopher kneels down in front of Hayes to get a reaction. Then they both stand up and Hayes walks away while Goldy makes a motion of a tear running down his face.
University spokesman Dan Wolter wrote in an e-mail, "We have reiterated to Goldy the importance of exercising appropriate religious sensitivity in the future."
Note to Goldy: It might be dangerous to mock a 6-foot-2, 240-pound football player when your only armor is a fuzzy animal suit.
