This is the headquarters of the Metropolitan Council, the Twin Cities regional planning agency. It’s located in downtown Saint Paul. Notice anything about how it’s laid out? If you ever walk past, it may take a moment, but you’ll soon realize that the building doesn’t have any entrances onto the street.

Historic Bluff Country, the regional tourism non-profit organization, just celebrated its 27th anniversary! Do you remember what was happening in Bluff Country in 1986? Think, think, think, you got it—NOTHING!
Fillmore and Houston counties were essentially unheard of, impoverished and neglected by the the Twin Cities and even “Greater Minnesota” which, I believe, is a term that has only came into use since the ’90s. The term “bluff country” was unrecognized and perhaps considered, “Oh, those towns over by the River with all the hills,” without further thought.
