Glittered in San Francisco -- a Tim Pawlenty story

While former Gov. Tim Pawlenty was in San Francisco today, making a paid speech and signing his books, he was "glittered" by a pair of women who, Politico reports, said: "Tim Pawlenty, where is your courage to stand? Stand for reproductive rights! Stand for gay rights!"

To get to his $30,000 speech to the America’s Health Insurance Plans, Pawlenty, now a hard-chargin' Republican presidential candidate, also had to pass through a protest crowd mad about possible Medicare cuts and other health care issues, who were waiting outside the group's conference.

Last month, Newt Gingrich was glittered at a book signing in Minneapolis, so it's not just TPaw catching the ire of glitter bombers.

After the shooting on Representative Gifford it should be be a federal mandatory felony prosecution for any assault" of a declared political candidate even if it is "symbolic" with mandatory felony prosecution. A technical charge is "obstructing the elective process". It should be a felony and all prosecution should be mandatory.

Let's say those Code Pink(o) types are "bulldogged" by a really big security person. They might sue even though they were the perpetrators. Election obstruction via physical assault should be a federal court mandatory felony prosecution.

There has to be a better way to get one's point across than such antics. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Dem, but pranks like the glitter girls are using don't seem Kosher to me.
