Yesterday, Patrick Reusse of 1500 ESPN Twin Cities tweeted this message to his followers:
As a representative of Life Time Fitness, I was part of the discussions internally about this situation. It was important that we make a public reply to Mr. Reusse and to our members as a whole. Here was the reply::
“Contrary to reports given by a member of the media today, Life Time Fitness does not share member information in accordance with Company policy. The Company has not confirmed this report and the alleged membership information provided simply is not accurate.”
I am a strong believer in what we do here at Life Time Fitness, and know that we do take privacy very seriously. We probably could have let this go knowing that Mr. Reusse’s statement was not true (as much as some of us Vikings fans would like it to be), but privacy is a serious matter in business and now-a-days on the web.
And while Mr. Reusse may have had a source (reliable or otherwise), I believe it was important for Life Time to take the action it did, and I am proud to be a part of an organization that is proactive towards letting members know that we value privacy – whether you are the wife of a future Hall of Fame football player or a regular guy like me!
