    What's your $80,000 song?

By Corey Anderson | Published Mon, Jun 22 2009 8:14 am

Last Thursday, a 32-year-old woman from Brainerd, Jammie Thomas-Rasset, was told she owes $1.92 million in damages for downloading 24 songs from Kazaa. That comes out to $80,000 per song. Many music lovers would consider the tunes on their iPods priceless, but some of Thomas-Rasset's selections, like Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me" and Richard Marx's "Now and Forever," seem a bit over-priced.

MinnPost followers on Twitter, what song in your collection do you consider priceless? Or at least worth $80,000? My selection:

The live eight-minute, eight-second version of "How High the Moon" by Ella Fitzgerald

Join Twitter, follow MinnPost, and tweet what you consider to be the most priceless song you own. Be sure to include #mp140 in your tweet.

This week's prize: Two tickets to the July 8 Twins vs. New York Yankees game.

    This week's winner:

Leoramaccabee #mp140 Bonnie Raitt's cover "Angel from Montgomery" - reminds me of change, hard but good. Played it 50x in a row when leaving college.

    Honorable mentions:

MikeKodada Paying $80K would force me to move into the woods. I choose Madonna's "Ray of Light" as my song and bear repellant. #mp140

panndder A poem with a story, and another Duluth connection (1920 Lynchings and Thomas's first conviction): Desolation Row by Bob Dylan #mp140

julieblaha Here's to picking music for love, not fashion or iTunes or music critics. Without shame, my song is Copacabana. #mp140

callipygianking A recording of my drum corps' 2005 performance of Freebird that won us a national championship. #mp140

ubxs113 #mp140 The actual is far too humiliating to be posted in public so how about Southtown Girls by The Hold Steady

kevinthoule #mp140 If you're going to have to pay $80K, it's best to "Always Look On the Bright Side of Life" Monty Python Spamalot style!

justacoolcat "Company Store", since I can't pay the 80k upfront #mp140

pphenow title exemplifies RIAA attitude about alienating fans, So What by Miles Davis or by the Anti-Nowhere League (not Metallica’s version) #mp140
