Busy R.T. Rybak gets transportation honor, takes part in national mayors’ panel
Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak was declared a strong champion of transportation by the Minnesota Transportation Alliance last week.
The not-for-profit coalition gave him the Alliance Transportation Advocate Award in recognition of his leadership following the I-35 bridge collapse and his work in organizing other local officials on transportation issues.
Rybak -- such a busy guy -- then went to Florida Saturday for a discussion with other mayors on sustainability, city and federal partnerships, and how cities are responding to the current economic crisis. The discussion was moderated by Michele Norris, host of National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered.” It was a National League of Cities event.
The other mayors on the panel were John Hickenlooper of Denver, Ralph Becker of Salt Lake City and Joseph P. Riley Jr. of Charleston, S.C.
The NLC has a recap of the discussion here.
