Mankato officials plan Vermont visit to scope out good ideas

Mankato officials like to visit similar-size cities to look for good ideas they can bring back to their college town (pop. 34, 970), about 60 miles south of the Twin Cities. For their next trip, they've chosen Burlington, Vt. (pop. 38,358), says the Mankato Free Press http://www.mankatofreepress.com/local/local_story_317001024.html/.
About 100 business, nonprofit, government and religious leaders will go there April 25-28 to check things out. Burlington and Mankato have similar demographics and college campuses, officials say.
In previous years, city leaders visited two larger cities, Bellingham, Wash. (pop. 75,150) and Fort Collins, Colo. (pop. 129,467).
