Levity in the recount.
Minutes after the Al Franken campaign lawyer claimed a 22-vote lead, Fritz Knaak ,Sen. Norm Coleman’s lawyer, asserts his man is ahead by 2,200 votes!
Sarcasm, folks.
“We have no evidence of this,” Knaak said straight-faced. “I just like the sound of it.”
Seriously, Knaak said the Coleman campaign now sees Tuesday’s 171 “found” Maplewood ballots — especially 31absentee ballots — as “a problem” and continues to investigate.
Meanwhile, there’s a report of more than 100 missing ballots in Minneapolis, most of them Franken ballots.
Also, the State Canvassing Board announced it will meet Dec. 12; the topic of inexplicably rejected absentee ballots is on agenda.
