Ich bin ein Municher; Gov. Pawlenty in Germany for security conference
The Minnesota Independent is running a picture of Gov. Tim Pawlenty in the audience for a speech in Munich this weekend by Afghan President Hamid Karzai. The governor was in Germany for an international security conference.
The Independent notes that Pawlenty was at the conference last year, too, and that Sen. Amy Klobuchar was invited this year but stayed in Washington to fight the stimulus battle.
As for the other state Senate seat, the Independent notes that Al Franken attended Mayor R.T. Rybak's re-election campaign launch party and joked (I think it's a joke): “I am the senator-elect and hope to be seated during R.T.’s current term.”
Gov. Pawlenty is scheduled to be home today and will fill in for Don Shelby at 3 p.m. today on WCCO-AM, 830.

You may want to check your spelling of "Münchner" or "Muenchner" there, Ausländer.
Does anyone else find it odd that Pawlenty is the only U.S. governor at this conference? Or does anyone else think it's strange that the governor decided to take this trip (on the taxpayers' dime, I assume) when the state is near financial collapse?
Hmm... curious. It's almost as if he thinks this trip would help him prepare for some other job.
