Duluth to offer domestic partner certificates
By Joe Kimball | 05/12/09
It's not the same as gay marriage, but next month Duluth couples will be able to apply for domestic partnership certificates.
The city council approved the measure on a 5-3 vote Monday night, says the Duluth News Tribune. Supporters say it will now be easier for couples to get benefits from employers that provide them to domestic partners. Minneapolis has a similar program.
The certificates wouldn’t just be for gays and lesbians, officials said.
The certificates will cost $25.
