House Minority Leader Seifert wastes no time jumping in governor's race

At the end of the Gov. Tim Pawlenty's anticlimactic news conference confirming word that he would not seek re-election, House Minority Leader Marty Seifert wasted little time this afternoon making news himself.

The Republican from Marshall said he is set to run for governor and would be announcing formally at a Wednesday news conference. Shortly after, a news release from Kevin Watterson, director of public affairs for the GOP Caucus, confirmed details of Seifert's 11 a.m. press conference at the Capitol.

How brave of all these Republicans, nationally and locally, to be fighting with each other for positions as bridge officers of the Titanic (the Republican Party) now that it's struck that iceberg!

Of course it seems to have taken a long time for the officers of the Titanic to comprehend that their "unsinkable" ship was going down, too.

Wrong - he is announcing he is stepping down from leadership. Retraction please - very Brauresque
