Supreme Court déjà vu today in Coleman-Franken oral arguments
By Jay Weiner | 06/01/09
Themes were reprised, characters returned and arguments were familiar today.
In oral arguments before the Minnesota Supreme Court that lasted minutes longer than the allotted hour, lawyers for Norm Coleman and Al Franken made their final state-level pleas.
Joe Friedberg, for Coleman said the three-judge contest court erred.
Marc Elias, Franken's lawyer, said even if more votes were counted, Franken's 312-vote margin couldn't be overtaken.
Afterward, Coleman left open the possibility that he'd pursue further legal processes, should the Supreme Court affirm the lower court.
"Let's see what the [Supreme] court does," Coleman said, expressing confidence he'd prevail.
