The Northern Student, Bemidji State University’s student newspaper, was shut down last week because officials couldn’t find a faculty adviser. The situation is temporary, officials say.

The paper dates to 1926, says the Bemidji Pioneer, the city’s newspaper. And students did put out at least one edition this fall. It included a negative article about a local restaurant, but officials say that was not why publication was stopped.

“The Northern Student was not suspended,” said Andy Bartlett, associate director of communications and marketing at BSU.“The editorial staff of the Northern Student made a decision on their own to temporarily halt production.”
