Howard Dean, the former Vermont governor and one-time Democratic National Committee chairman, endorses Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak today, with a YouTube video.

Rybak was the Minnesota chair of the Dean for President campaign 2002. Dean, who also worked with Rybak on the Obama campaign, calls the mayor a “straight forward decent person” who’s “not really a politician.”

“R.T. is the kind of progressive who will make sure the decisions he has to make in the Capitol, which won’t be popular all the time, don’t hurt the most vulnerable people in society,” Dean said.

  1. Howard Dean’s endorsement is the last thing that will convince me to vote for Mayor Rybak or any other candidate.

  2. We’d have a much better plan to vote on if Howard Dean had won that election, one similar to that in Norway and Switzerland. Private insurance BUT all non-profit and heavily regulated (like a public utility) to prevent all the abuses inflicted on Americans by the insurance industry here.

Vermont has universal health care, largely due to then-governor Dean. The U.S. should be so lucky.
