Marcia Avner shifts role at Minnesota Council of Nonprofits to be senior fellow

Marcia Avner, one of the original planners of the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, will step down from her role as he organization's public policy director this fall.
She'll then serve as a senior fellow for MCN, workng on nonprofit public policy capacity-building and as senior trainer for a Public Policy Leadership Institute.
Avner was one of the original planners of MCN in 1986 at a retreat at Wilder Forest, then served as one of the three incorporators when MCN filed with the secretary of state. She was MCN’s first board chair and convener of the first Annual Conference in 1987.
Her husband, Wy Spano, is a veteran Minnesota politico and director of the Master of Advocacy & Political Leadership at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
