Chinese delegation in Minnesota, too, talking soybeans
While President Obama hobnobbed with Chinese President Hu in Washington Wednesday, Gov. Mark Dayton was working on his own Chinese mission.
The governor and state farm officials met for lunch with a large Chinese delegation to talk about soybean exports — from Minnesota to China. A conference room in St. Paul was decked out for the occasion with miniature Chinese national flags, red tablecloths, and food from a local Chinese restaurant, says MPR's Elliot deBruyn.
The Chinese group was led by Bian Zhenhu, who has the impressive title of president of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By-products
Apparently, one-fourth of all soybeans grown in the state are exported to China, so the relationship is important for both sides.
