Gov. Dayton speaks Monday at Ending Homelessness event
Gov. Mark Dayton will speak Monday on ending homelessness at a Minneapolis event sponsored by Downtown Congregations to End Homelessness.
Legislators will also be on hand at the event, which runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1200 Marquette Ave. in downtown Minneapolis. Dayton is scheduled to speak at 6:45 p.m.
The group also will offer training sessions on advocacy and the Runaway and Homeless Youth Act.
The DCEH group says it's working to "transition from managing to ending homelessness and poverty through advocacy, education, support of Heading Home Hennepin (HHH) and building relationships with the homeless and near homeless, congregations, volunteers, and community organizations."
Its website says:
"We know the solutions to homelessness: workforce housing, permanent supportive housing, outreach, self-support programs that help folks find employment, the solutions are not only the right thing to do for the dignity of people, but also are cost effective solutions that save taxpayers money."
