Lois Quam to head Obama's Global Health Initiative
Lois Quam, the former UnitedHealth Group executive and wife of onetime gubernatorial candidate Matt Entenza, has been tapped to head the president's Global Health Initiative, which is investing billions overseas to improve health systems.
The program will target HIV/AIDS, malaria, TB and other preventable diseases across the world. The goal is to make the world safter and more stable by improving worldwide health.
Tom Scheck at MPR notes that Quam has been a senior adviser to former first lady Hillary Clinton's health care task force, and that Quam and Entenza "have been close with former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for some time. Quam worked with Clinton in the early nineties and the two have been longtime backers of the political campaigns of both Bill and Hillary Clinton."
