Bachmann briefed on drug cartels and trade during trip to Mexico and Colombia

U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann took an official trip to Mexico and Colombia last week for briefings on drug cartels and security in those countries.

Politico reports that she was part of a congressional delegation made up of members of the House Intelligence Committee; members also met with Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos for talks on the Colombia Free Trade Agreement.

Politico notes that this was a break from Bachmann's recent string of visits around the United States, as she contemplates a run for president, and it adds some foreign policy heft to her resume.

The details of trip weren't announced until after she'd returned.
