Legislators to scope out flooding near Moorhead
A group of legislators from both parties will go to Moorhead Friday to check out flood preparations as the Red River keeps rising.
They will inspect flood control projects and meet with area officials for updates on the expected impact of the high waters.
Heading the delegation are state Sens. Bill Ingebrigtsen, R-Alexandria, chair of the Environment and Natural Resources Committee, and David Senjem, R-Rochester, chair of the Capital Investment Committee.
Also in the group are: state Sens. Gretchen Hoffman, R-Vergas, Keith Langseth, D-Glyndon, Rod Skoe, D-Clearbrook, and state Reps. Kent Eken, D-Twin Valley, Debra Kiel, R-Crookston, and Paul Marquart, D-Dilworth.
They plan to tour the North Ottawa Impoundment Site at 11 a.m., get an update on the Breckenridge Flood Control Project at 12:15 p.m., then meet in Moorhead at 2:30 p.m. about the flood impact with a dozen mayors, council members, commissioners and leaders from the Moorhead area the surrounding cities and townships.
