Sen. Michael Jungbauer, an avid runner, hit by car while jogging

Sen. Michael Jungbauer, an avid runner, was hit by a car Wednesday morning while jogging outside of the state Capitol and transported to Regions hospital.

Jungbauer's head hit the ground after the accident, and he's being treated overnight for a slight concussion, though he didn't lose consciousness, Republican GOP Caucus staffer Sandra Whalen said.

The senator is in stable condition, Whalen said, and he's currently with his wife Vicki.

Whalen anticipates that Jungbauer will be back to business next week.

"He's a pretty healthy guy," Whalen said. "He has had some injuries, but he rebounds pretty quickly."

Jungbauer, R-East Bethel, serves as vice chairman of the Senate Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications Committee.

Get better soon, Sen. Jungbauer!

Get better soon, we need you there to stick up for bicycling, walking and running and policies like Complete Streets that would make them safer. Dorian Grilley, Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota
