Gov. Mark Dayton issued a supportive statement this morning about the proposal for a new Vikings stadium outlined Thursday by he Republican lead sponsors, Sen. Julie Rosen and Rep. Morrie Lanning.
He called it a good start.
Here's the full statement:
“I have consistently said that jobs — putting Minnesotans back to work — must be our top priority, along with balancing the State's budget. Building a ‘people's stadium’ will provide good jobs for several thousand Minnesotans. This bill is a good start, and gets the stadium discussion started within the Legislature. It includes what I view as essential elements of a stadium bill, particularly that no general fund dollars be used to pay for it. It’s up to the Legislature to move this forward, but I am ready to work with them to create a ‘people’s stadium.’ ”

I used to think there were three plausible Vikings stadium outcomes:
#1... No deal and the Vikings are sold and relocate.
#2... A "SWEETHEART" deal
#3... A deal that's GOOD for the Vikings and GOOD for Minnesota
But there's clearly a fourth outcome as demonstrated by the proposed stadium legislation.
#4... A deal that at once is BAD for the Vikings and Bad for Minnesota.
Yesterday I heard Adrian is doing some sort of a charitable event with a Hollywood theme. Wonder if he's thinking about playing for the LA Vikings.
