Racino hearing in Senate canceled
By Jay Weiner | 05/04/11
A scheduled evening committee hearing and vote in the Senate on the racino issue was canceled this afternoon.
John Derus, a spokesman for the Running Aces track in Columbus, acknowledged he was expecting a "very close" vote.
Racino proponent Dick Day said the hearing, the first to be held on the issue, was canceled because of a scheduling conflict for committee members.
Other lobbyists invovled in the issue speculated racino backers didn't have the votes in the Senate Committee on Government Innovation and Veterans.
A racino hearing in a House committee is scheduled for Thursday morning.
