Three candidates to be interviewed for judge spot

Three candidates for an open judge position in the First Judicial District have been recommended to Gov. Mark Dayton by the Commission on Judicial Selection. They are:

  • Ann Offermann, assistant Dakota County attorney¬† assigned to the Adult Criminal Prosecution Division. She previously served as a former assistant attorney general for Minnesota.
  • Thomas Pugh, an attorney with Rogosheske, Sieben, Atkins & Pugh, represents clients in criminal actions and a wide variety of civil proceedings. He served as House minority leader in the Minnesota House of Representatives and was also a commissioner on the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission.
  • Chris Wilton, an assistant U.S. attorney who had previously been an assistant Ramsey County attorney.

The First District covers Carver, Dakota, Goodhue, LeSueur, McLeod, Scott and Sibley counties.

The candidates will be interviewed in the next few weeks and one will be selected to take judgeship that came open when Judge Thomas Poch retired.
