Children's museum building planned for Mankato wants city help

The Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota is raising money for a permanent home in Mankato, and is asking the city for help.
The group says it has $1.66 million pledged so far toward the $4 million needed, according to the Mankato Free Press.
The museum's executive director, Peter Olson, has asked the city for $250,000 to buy the former Ember's restaurant site, next to the library.
But it might be a tough sell: The council has turned down other organizations that asked for money.
The museum has had three temporary sites since it opened in 2006.
