Gov. Mark Dayton has appointed two new judges to fill vacancies in Scott County.

The new judges, Ann Offermann and Christian Wilton, will be based in Shakopee. They replace Judge Carol Hooten, who was appointed to the Minnesota Court of Appeals, and Judge William Macklin, who retired earlier this year.

Offermann is an assistant Dakota County attorney who handles felony criminal prosecutions. She is a former assistant state attorney general who worked with the Public Safety, Labor and Health Licensing Divisions.

Wilton is an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Minnesota where he prosecutes violent crimes, narcotics trafficking, economic crimes and child exploitation. He’s a former assistant Ramsey County attorney who handled gang prosecutions, civil commitment, child abuse and murder cases.
