Opponents of the voting amendment that will be on the Nov. 6 ballot plan a protest Sunday, with marches in North Minneapolis and Northeast Minneapolis converging at a rally.

The group Raising Our Collective Voices Against the Voter Restriction Amendment plans to gather at 2 p.m. at two spots:

  • In North Minneapolis: Neighborhoods Organizing for Change office, 911 W. Broadway
  • In Northeast Minneapolis: Eastside Neighborhood Services, 1700 N.E. Second St.

The two contingents will then march at 3 p.m. to a rally at the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers office, 67 8th Ave. NE, starting at 4:15 p.m.

“This is part of our effort for a full-court press to ensure ALL Minnesotans are allowed to participate in fair, free & access able elections — now & in the future” said Brett Buckner, director of Color the Vote.

“We are taking our message to the streets and mobilizing our citizens in unison to defeat Photo ID,” said Jill Davis, a Minneapolis School Board member and alliance leader.
