Gov. Dayton will have back surgery at Mayo Clinic
By Joe Kimball | 12/21/12
Gov. Mark Dayton will have back surgery next week at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
His office says the diagnosis is stenosis, which causes constriction in the spine. Doctors will fuse vertebrae in his back to prevent shifting.
The surgery will be Thursday; he expects to remain hospitalized through New Year's Day and will then handle his duties for the first few weeks of January from the Governor's Residence on Summit Avenue in St. Paul.
