Archbishop Nienstedt to host discussion on 'Faith and Immigration Reform'

Archbishop John Nienstedt will host a discussion next month of federal immigration reform as it relates to faith, business and public policy.

The Sept. 4 discussion will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the University of St. Thomas Law School, Harmon Place and 11th Street South in downtown Minneapolis.

Said Nienstedt:

"Each day in our parishes, social programs, hospitals, and schools, we witness the human consequences of a broken immigration system. Families are separated, workers are exploited, and our fellow human beings are dying in deserts."

Also scheduled for the panel discussion is Kevin Appleby, director of migration policy and public affairs for the U.S. Catholic Conference of Bishops, Minnesota business leaders, clergy, Catholic immigrants and others.

They'll discuss the U.S. bishops’ support for immigration reform and how people of faith can contribute to the national conversation. A question-and-answer period will follow.

The program is free. RSVPs are requested to the Minnesota Catholic Conference at info@mncc.org/.
