    Farm Bill reckoning day delayed

    Congress and President Bush this week agreed to another extension on the new farm bill. Congress now has until April 18 to finalize the legislation.

    After the 18th, Bush can extend the current farm law for at least one year should Congress not act. The 2002 law expired last September and has been extended several times. The delay is over new spending: Congress wants $10 billion and Bush is asking for $6 billion in new dollars.
