    Correction: Ad backing Coleman not affiliated with his campaign

    An ad supporting Sen. Norm Coleman that is currently getting heavy play in Minnesota is not a product of his re-election campaign, as I stated earlier today in a Political Agenda item.

    The ad is actually a third-party ad, funded by an organization called American Future Fund. It makes no mention of the fact that Coleman is a Republican. Rather, it calls him an "independent voice for Minnesota.''

    The DFL has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission over the ad, claiming it lacks the "transparency'' required of third-party ads in an election year.

    The Coleman campaign says it has nothing to do with the ad and will not call for it to be withdrawn. The campaign says it has not yet begun to run its own commercials.
