GOP officials here pay off hockey playoff bet

Our Republicans followed through on their lost NHL playoffs bet; 10 pounds of walleye arrived in Denver Wednesday — packed in dry ice — courtesy of the Republican National Convention folks here. Recipients were Democratic National Convention Committee officials.

A bet on the Stanley Cup playoff series made sense: We've got the Republican convention; Denver's got the Democratic convention. We've got the Wild; they've got the Avalanche. Now they've got the walleye. (We would have gotten steaks, if it weren't for that goalie of theirs. And the injuries, etc.)
