Word from the Capitol late this afternoon is that $70 million in funds for the Central Corridor Light Rail line may be back in play, weeks after the money was line-item vetoed out of the bonding bill. That bill's sponsor, Rep. Alice Hausman, DFL-St. Paul, is proposing a supplemental bonding bill, according to Session Daily, the House Public Information Service.
 
At stake is $450 million in federal money for the project. Hausman, according to Session Daily, figures the additional $70 would still be under Pawlenty's desired figure of $825 million for the original bonding bill, which Pawlenty slashed from $925 million to $717 million. 
 
"It is unacceptable to think of turning our back on hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funding if we don't get this done this session," Hausman said, according to the Session Daily web site. —G.R. Anderson Jr.
